The Woodlands Garden club celebrates Arbor Day
By webmaster | February 9, 2009
The Woodlands Garden Club participates in the community-wide annual Arbor Day Celebration and free tree-give-away sponsored by the Woodlands Association. As more and more of the area is developed, this is a way to make sure that the area (which is on the edge of the Piney Woods) is re-forested. The project this year was even more popular due to the hundreds of trees that were felled by Hurricane Ike. This year the celebration took place on Saturday, January 32 at the new Rib Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside. With all kinds of activities for kids and a huge area for toddlers to roam in addition to entertainment on the stage, the green give-away, the vendors and all kinds of food and drinks, the celebration has something for everyone and grows each year. 35,000 tree seedlings in 12 different varieties were handed out.
