Gold Duranta

Gold Duranta

Duranta “Cuban Gold” is a smaller, compact version of its relative, Duranta repens “Sweet Memories”. The plant has bright, yellow foliage, and does well in sun to part sun. It grows to 2 feet high, and spreads to about 2 feet in width. (One note here: a garden club member has this variety in her yard, and it grew to 5 feet!). The plant can be shaped as a small shrub, and adds a beautiful color accent in the garden.

Cuban Gold Duranta can take extreme summer conditions. This plant excels in well-drained, fertile beds. If the soil is heavy, compacted clay, amending it with organic matter will greatly enhance growing conditions.

This plant will also work well in color layering situations in the garden bed, or in containers. Mix it with red, blue, or purple for a striking combination. Small blue flowers will appear on this plant in the summer.
