2008 Wildflower Festival
Members of The Woodlands Garden Club will again be participating in The Woodlands Wildflower Festival on Saturday, October 24 from 10 am to 2pm at the Cochran’s Crossing Shopping Center. The Wildflower Festival has always been a much anticipated community event that is enjoyed by everyone. It is a wonderful opportunity to obtain a varied assortment of wildflower seeds to use either in your own personal gardens or to add to the beautification of The Woodlands. Garden Club members will also have plants for sale that are appropriate for our Zone 8 climate. The children are invited to make their own birdfeeders with pine cones, peanut butter and birdseed which are provided by the Garden Club.
The special guest of this year’s Garden Club Booth will be Brenda Beust Smith, the Lazy Gardener of The Houston Chronicle. She will be available to answer gardening questions and will have copies of her most recent publication of “The Lazy Gardener’s Guide” available on CD.
The Woodlands Garden Club is a non-profit organization and the club’s participation in the festival is one of our two major fundraisers each year. The club proudly gives an annual $1,000 scholarship to a qualified student majoring in horticulture, botany or forestry and the festival is one of the ways the club funds the scholarship.
