Christmas luncheon December 2017

On October 15, 2015, over 20 members of The Woodlands Garden Club went on a field trip to the Brookwood Community.  Brookwood is a faith-based educational, residential and entrepreneurial community located in Brookshire, TX (west of Katy) that serves approximately 200 functionally disabled adults.   Brookwood has beautifully landscaped grounds and 47 greenhouses proudly tended by the residents.  There is also a gift shop, garden center and a Café that provide income to help support the programs.  On this trip, Garden Club members attended a program on decorating for the holidays, followed by a fabulous lunch in the Café, and a tour of the magnificent gardens, greenhouses and gift shop.  Poinsettias, bursting with vivid red, covered the floors of the greenhouses  … pure beauty!  They are just some of the nearly 50,000 flowering plants grown for the holidays at Brookwood.  All who attended had a great time.  As part of its ongoing community service, The Woodlands Garden Club has assisted in potting up seedlings at the Brookwood Community on several occasions.
